One glance at the Komondor after he is 3 to 4 months of age will have everyone taking a second look. The reason being is this is the time in which his coat begins to turn into locks of corded hair. He is one majestic looking creature with long white cords that practically cover his entire body from head to toe.

Temperament of your Komondor Puppy

Above all else the Komondor is a protector of his flock, whether animal or his human family. He is loyal and weary of strangers. Since this puppy will grow into a full-fledged protector, he will be a bit aggressive to strangers. It is best to watch him while children are at play, as he may not understand that the neighbor boy is only playing or wrestling with your child.

Living Environment for your Komondor Puppy

The Komondor prefers a country style lifestyle with plenty of room, but can adjust well to apartment life as long as he or she receives plenty of exercise. The cold weather does not bother him as his coat as protection against the cold as well as predators. He may need to come in during very hot weather. Many people do not consider the Komondor to be a city type dog; however, as long as he receives plenty of exercise he will do fine.

Training your Komondor Puppy

The Komondor puppy is very smart and easily trained. He should be trained at a very early age to be sociable or neighbors may have to be careful walking into your yard, as he will believe they are danger. He can be very independent as well and needs to experience new sights and sounds to aid in preventing aggressive behavior at a later date.

Grooming your Komondor puppy

You cannot brush or comb your puppy’s hair once he has grown in his beautiful long cords, however, he will still need a bath regularly. His coat is apt to picking up all kinds of debris along with the fact that fleas and ticks love to hide under his cords. The hair between the pads of the feet will need trimmed. Toenails will also need to be trimmed.
