The Afghan Hound puppy is sweet, affectionate, sensitive, and spirited. He is one breed that does not have a dominance gene. He may even tend to be a bit shy if he is not socialized while he is still a puppy. He is not keen on strangers but is not aggressive. They do better with older children that understand to play easy instead of rough.

The Afghan Hound puppy needs a yard in which to play. He will do well indoors but needs a bit more room than an apartment can give. He can live indoors or outdoors but would much rather sleep indoors with the family than being ignored outside.

The Afghan Hound puppy has a long and thick coat that will need to be bathed weekly. Only brush his coat after you bathe and dry. Do not brush his coat while wet as his coat will tend to mat. His ears will checked and cleaned due to infection that can occur with long eared breeds.
