The Maltese puppy is one of those cute adorable puppies that you want to hold and cuddle for hours. They are great companion dogs that enjoy human companionship as well as pleasing their owners and learning new tricks. The small little dog appears to be floating on a cloud of long white hair.
Temperament of your Maltese Puppy
The Maltese puppy is very playful, loving, trusting, and devoted to his family. They are very good companion dogs and are great at alerting their family when something is outside. The Maltese does well with other animals in the family. Outdoor fun is often one of their most fun activities including water play. Of course, if they jump around in a mud puddle with the kids you will have to throw them in the tub.
Living Environment for your Maltese Puppy
The Maltese does fine living in an apartment and will remain active. A small yard for your puppy to run and play is always a good idea. However, as long as you spend time with your puppy he or she will not need a yard.
Training your Maltese Puppy
Potty training is one of the hardest things to do with a Maltese. You must not treat this puppy as a baby and over pamper as this can make them very jealous of other children, people, or animals you may be around.
Grooming your Maltese puppy
Due to the long coat that flows to the floor, the Maltese puppy will need to be brushed on a daily basis. The hair is very soft and you will need to brush it with care. The eyes will need to be cleaned daily to prevent tear staining. The beard will need cleaned after each meal. The ears must be cleaned and the small hairs will need to be pulled out of the ear canal. The good news is even though the puppy has very long hair, he or she is not a shedder.
