The English Cocker Spaniel is a happy, lovable, and affectionate dog from puppyhood to adulthood. They love children; however, they do not enjoy being teased. They are considered to be one of the most popular companion dogs. Females are a bit more dominate than males; however, they do well with other pets in the family including cats.

Living Environment for your English Cocker Spaniel Puppy

The English Cocker Spaniel puppy can live just fine in an apartment as long as they receive enough exercise. Remember, as puppies they will need their own chew toys and room to play, usually a medium size yard or a run in the park will be fine.

The English Cocker Spaniel is an easy puppy to train as long as you remain consistent. Taking your puppy to his puppy area regularly will have him or her potty trained in no time. These puppies are highly intelligent and can be trained by voice command or hand signals.

Grooming your English Cocker Spaniel Puppy

Your English Cocker Spaniel puppy will need to be brushed and combed quite often, as their coat is prone to matting. The ears should be checked often for grass seeds and signs of infection. They ears will need to cleaned at least once per week to avoid infection. The hair on the pads of their feet should be trimmed but not between the toes. Bathe as needed. Shedding is average year round.
