How to Use Windows Key Shortcuts for Various Tasks

This tutorial can not be called a traditional How-To type tutorial. We all know how to use the keyboard and some Shortcuts too. But perhaps you’ve never come across a full listing of the available shortcuts. And guess what? Some of them are very useful. Once you learn them, you will definitely find yourself using them regularly. So here is a very concise list of some interesting key shortcuts.

  • Windows Key + L à used to quickly lock your computer.
  • Windows Key + D à used to show the desktop. It can be useful when you have a many windows open and need to access some important shortcut on the desktop. If you want all the windows back, then click the key combination again.
  • Windows Key + M à minimize all the current active windows.
  • Windows Key + shift + M à open all the minimized windows together.
  • Windows Key + R à to open “Run” Command
  • Windows Key + Pause/Break à display “System Properties” Dialog box.
  • Windows Key + Tab à cycle through the all open entries on the Task bar
  • Windows Key à display ”Start” menu.
  • Alt + Enter à display the “Properties” of the selected file or folder.
  • Alt + Space Bar à display the shortcut menu of the current window.
