Active Desktop was a feature introduced by Windows long ago. Although in the beginning this feature wasn’t actively used, now with the increasing use of Internet, people have started to use this feature more and more. It gives you the flexibility to use your desktop just as any other browser. You can have your wallpaper set up in the desktop itself. You can even embed different graphical elements or Java Applets. Just follow these steps to activate Active Desktop,
Step 1:
Right click on any empty area on you desktop and on the window that appears click on “Properties”. You will get the following window,
Step 2:
On the top Menu bar you will see one option “Desktop”, click on it. The following window will open up. Click on the “Customize Desktop” at the bottom as shown in the screenshot.
Step 3:
In the next window as shown in the following screenshot you will see another option “Web” on the top Menu bar. Go for it.
Step 4:
You can see an option for “My Current Homepage”. Check on it. It will import your homepage from IE as the Active Object to be displayed on the desktop. And press “Ok”.
And you are done. You can see your homepage displayed on the wallpaper and you can use it right from there. All the information will be displayed on your Desktop itself.
