How to Add a New User on Windows XP

If more than one person is using the same computer, then there is a need of creating new user accounts and windows XP allows you to do so easily. You can create user accounts for every one who uses your computer so that they can use the System according to their tastes. One may question the need to create more than one user account; the answer is user privacy and security of related data. Three types of users are can be created on a Windows machine,

1. Computer administrator

2. User with limited asseccibility and

3. Guest.

In order to create a user account we need to log on as a computer administrator.

Step by step procedure to set a new user account is as follows

Step 1:

Click on “Start” button and then on “Control Panel.

Step 2:

Under “Pick a Category” click “User Account”.

Step 3:

Under the option “Pick a task” go for “Create a new account”.

Step 4:

Once you do so the following window will pop up. Type a name that you want to use for your account. This name can be any thing i.e. user’s full name, nick name etc. and then click next.

Step 5:

Now you will be asked to select User “account type”. Select “Computer administrator” or “Limited”, according to your choice. Click on “create account” and your account will be created.

Now if you want to use this new User, then just log of from the current user.on the welcome screen of Windows you will see the name of the new user. Go for it.
