Going on vacation with your family can be a great way to spend some time together, relax, have fun, and just get away from your daily life. But choosing the right destination isn’t always easy. There are a lot of factors that play into making this a great vacation for everyone in your family, so before you start booking your crab fishing weekend, you may want to ask your family some of the following questions:

Where do YOU want to go on vacation?

Why do YOU want to go there?

What’s YOUR favorite activity that takes place at that vacation spot?

Who would YOU bring along with you?

How long can YOU go on this vacation for?

While some of these questions may not apply to everyone who would be going, like children, they’ll give you a good number of ideas to work with. Sometimes, everyone wants to go to the same place, but if not, you can easily use the answers to these questions to find a place that has the activities that everybody wants while not necessarily being the place that everybody picked. That we, you all win.

Budgeting Your Family Vacation

So you’ve got your list of places and activities that you’re considering in front of you. What now? Well first, you need to determine your total budget for this trip. Always leave room for error or for that once in a life time chance that can surprise you last minute on your trip. You’ll want to make sure that this trip won’t hurt you financially when you get back home either.

Take each of the locations and the activities you were considering and write out what they would cost. Sometimes you’ll find that you can actually do everything you could at one location, at another, plus many more activities, at a much cheaper price. You want the most bang for your buck in most situations, but sometimes, especially with theme parks, theres no equivalent.

Traveling To Your Family Vacation

Whether it’s land, air, or water, unless your vacation is in your backyard, you’re going to need a way to get there. Your method of travel isn’t just a way to get you from point A to point B. Many families enjoy the trip together, using it as a way to bond and even stop along the way to enjoy other attractions and sights. Before you book that flight, cruise, or car, you’ll want to answer the following questions:

What methods of travel are feasible for this trip?

Are there attractions along the way that would be worth stopping at?

How much will each method cost and does it fit our budget?

Which method does everyone prefer?

Because each family is different, you may find yourself adding additional questions to that list as well.
