High cholesterol was just one of the results of menopause for Veronica, a 57 year old dance instructor. The menopause symptoms can be very stressing for many women at this age, and Veronica was no exception. In spite of a healthy diet and regular exercising, she kept gaining weight, had trouble sleeping and felt moody all the time. Her energy levels were low, and slowly her entire life was affected by menopause. A series of blood tests indicated that she was suffering from high cholesterol, menopause and hypothyroidism.

After getting treatment with DHEA, progesterone capsules and few other medicines, Veronica started to see positive results. With her chemical balance restored, the dieting and exercising started to work again.
Her body weight decreased from 191 pounds to 176, and her body fat was reduced to 45%. Of course, the cholesterol level got back to normal, and Veronica started to feel much better, full of energy.

Many people think that acne is a symbol of adolescence, but the truth is acne affects people of all ages and it is caused by certain disorders of the hormonal balance in the body, stress, diet or lifestyle drastic changes.

Brian was also one of the adults fighting acne. Especially when you are an adult, acne can affect your relationship with the society, work and personal life. Brian tried numerous treatments, and his battle with acne lasted no less than 9 years! Brian was diagnosed with deep acne, and Brian used tetracycline but the effects were not satisfactory. His hands were dry and he needed to use chopstick every day in order to reduce the blemishes.

In 2000, his deep acne returned, even more aggressive. It seemed like no treatment worked, and this can bring immense stress and hopeless to the affected persons. In 2003, Brian found a program that seemed to work, featuring a product based on benzoyl peroxide, 10% oxy. In about a week, the acne was diminished, and Brian started to enjoy life again. At 25, he is clear of acne and tries to share other people his success story.

Tina Wesson is one of the best examples of how a person can not only cope with arthritis, but also overcome it by achieving astonishing physical performances. I am sure you think that is almost impossible, but I assure you it’s not, and the entire world had a chance to witness Tina’s success during the TV show called “The Ultimate Survivor”. This is a show that puts in competition 16 contestants and subjects them to all sorts of physical and mental challenges. The goal? Find an ultimate survivor, able to pass challenges such as running, jumping, crawling or swimming.

Could you imagine that a person like Tina Wesson, diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis could win such a competition? Generally, the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are:

arthritis of three or more joints;

rheumatoid nodules;

radiographic changes;

Morning stiffness.

In spite of all the symptoms, Tina tried to overcome her limitations by taking adequate treatment and by practicing a large variety of sports such as: racquetball, running or swimming. Fortunately, Tina belongs to the first class of rheumatoid arthritis classifications, which partially explains her performances. The conclusion? If diagnosed early enough, it is easy to cope with arthritis, especially if the patient opts for treatment and physical exercise. Tina Wesson is a living proof to sustain this affirmation.

Angel is one of the millions of women confronting with severe hair loss due to treatment. In fact, her hair started to fall after Angel stopped breastfeeding her fourth child. She decided to start a treatment with Desogen, which is a synthetic hormone. Realizing the impact which hormones might have on a long term, Angel tried to stop the treatment, but the results were dramatic, as her hair started falling out in droves. A thyroid check revealed that the results are normal, but after consulting a natural pharmacist and doing some extra tests, Angel found out that her thyroid worked fine, but her body had trouble converting T4 to T3.

Natural vitamins such as Iodine, Vitamin D combined with a bit of dieting and exercises have created a positive change for Angel, which is back on a normal loss hair process. Hair loss due to treatment is a common effect, but people should know that there are many natural ways to regain the body balance and get back to normal hair loss.

Depression is a disease that affects more and more people every day. The pressures of the society, the hectic work schedules and the family problems are just few of the causes of depression. Unfortunately, few people seek for help in order to overcome their depression, while the rest are slowly eaten from inside until their body starts to crash. Wendy is one clear example of how depression can influence one’s life. It’s true the life she had so far would easily break down even a stronger person, so it was just a matter of time until depression would conquer her.

Sexual abuse in childhood, living to the poverty line, going through violent relationships and struggling to raise her eleven children left deep marks in her soul. Wendy, aged 30 now, was unable to keep a job and lack the desire to do something about her life, as she considered everything was futile.

One day he decided to get a tubal ligation, as at 28 she was responsible for no more than 11 children. There, she met a psychiatry professor at the Georgetown University. Jeanne Miranda was looking for subjects for her study related to how poor people are affected by depression. Wendy was immediately put to treatment and her life improved significantly. Today, she no longer feels helpless and tries to raise her kids while taking life as it is. She has a job, left her abusive husband and moved into a new apartment.

Of course, every story is different, and people are trying to find out what treatment works best for their particular situation. Margie Garrison, for example, suffered from arthritis from as long as she remembers.

At 42, the pain became so intense, that she decided to look once again for a treatment that would relieve her pain. In the past years, Margie tried dozens of treatments, starting with steroids, traction, braces and drugs; none of them worked. Moreover, the unpleasant side effects of the pills made her life miserable, besides the pain caused by arthritis. Therefore, she decided to opt for a natural treatment, combining healthy food& diet, plenty of exercise, a positive mental attitude and natural medication. So far so good, as she herself describes in her book called “My arthritis cure”. What everyone should know if that there is cure for arthritis, and sometimes the best cure consists in natural treatments, simple and efficient.

Harry’s story begins in the summer of 1994. While he was driving a truck, his vision became blurry. Worried, he consulted a doctor and the tests indicated that he had two types of diabetes. Diabetes is a disease that can change your entire life, and having two types of diabetes was even worse. Learning about the long-term complications of diabetes was an enlightening experience, which supported him through the entire process of treatment.

Back pain is one of those things that no one takes seriously, until it really takes you down. Aaron Randall probably knows best what a back pain can do to an active person. He worked for about four years as a Portland metro firefighter, and in December 2005, he sustained a back injury while answering an emergency call.

Even if no other injuries affected his body, for the following months, the back pain prevented him to work at full capacity. The thing with back pain is that each body responds differently to different treatments. After several treatments with zero results, Aaron understood that back pain treatments were only focusing on the back pain, while the entire body was affected. Therefore, he consulted the wellness coordinator of the fire department and found out about ADAPT. He was given a full evaluation of the body’s condition, and the ADAPT therapists have created a treatment plan that aimed his back injury and the overall balance of the body.

It was hard to get back to work, as Aaron feared the back pain would return after physical effort, but fortunately, he was able to perform 100%.

It used to be called being manic-depressive. Now, it’s call bipolar disorder. Same thing, new name.

Recognizing the symptoms of arthritis is not necessarily the easiest thing in the world. Some people just accept aches and pains increasing as part of growing older, not realizing that they may represent the beginnings of or more advanced stages of one or more of the over one hundred types of arthritis.

Joint Pain

Arthritis is possible if you display one or more of the following, persistent joint pain, i.e. tenderness in a joint during movement, inflammation such as joint swelling, stiffness, redness, loss of range of motion or flexibility in a joint.
fatigue, lack of energy, weakness, depression or non-specific fever.

Swelling

Arthritis pain is not necessarily constant. It may be only occasional. Swelling and inflammation are common symptoms. If pain occurs in the same body joints after physical activity this could be a sign of the disease. Joint stiffness is common in arthritic suffering, and may occur regularly at certain times of the day.
